What can mcr Silboard be used for?

One board - many applications. Mcr Silboard is a technologically unique, fire-resistant calcium silicate board, which, thanks to its properties, is suitable for the implementation of fire protection of various types of installations.

The mcr Silboard board is completely non-flammable (fire reaction class A1), as well as highly durable. It is easy to process, and installation is quick and easy. Since the board is non-toxic and does not contain any substances harmful to health, it is safe to use in virtually any type of building. Additionally, it is also resistant to biological corrosion (degrading effects of fungi and bacteria).

mcr Silboard boards are available in various thicknesses, depending on their intended use.

Universal application

The mcr Silboard board is suitable for fire protection of all types of buildings: public utility, industrial, historic buildings.

It meets the requirements of the multi-criteria assessment system for intelligent buildings in the LEED/BREEAM system, which was confirmed by obtaining the ECOCARD.

In addition, it is suitable for use in ecological and energy-saving, modern construction investments, which was confirmed by obtaining an EPD environmental declaration.

It is designed for the production of, among others, self-supporting fire-resistant general (comfort) ventilation ducts and multi-zone smoke extraction ventilation ducts, cable ducts, installation ducts, non-load-bearing walls (shafts), protection of steel structures and reinforced concrete structure elements reinforced with carbon fibre tapes and mats.

Ventilation and smoke extraction ducts

Self-supporting ventilation and smoke extraction ducts made of 40 mm thick mcr Silboard boards can be used when passing through the following structural partitions:

- concrete ceilings with a thickness of not less than 150 mm,

- concrete walls with a thickness of not less than 110 mm,

- masonry walls made of solid ceramic bricks or cellular concrete blocks with a thickness of not less than 110 mm,

- masonry walls made of solid silicate bricks with a thickness of not less than 110 mm and a fire resistance class of not less than EI 120,

- lightweight walls made of plasterboards on a steel frame with a total thickness of not less than 125 mm and a fire resistance class of not less than EI 120.

Protection of reinforced concrete structure elements reinforced with carbon fiber tapes and mats

Fire protection of reinforced concrete structure elements reinforced with carbon fibre tapes and mats also includes the mcr Silboard board. For this type of application, 40 mm and 20 mm thick mcr Silboard boards are used.

Fire-protected reinforced concrete elements, reinforced with carbon fibre tapes and mats, should be characterised by:

- thickness of at least 150 mm – in the case of walls,

- thickness of at least 150 mm – in the case of ceilings reinforced and protected from below,

- thickness of at least 200 mm – in the case of ceilings reinforced and protected from above, with a fire exposure of up to 120 minutes,

- width of at least 150 mm and height of at least 250 mm – in the case of beams,

- cross-section of at least 150x150 mm – in the case of columns.

Cable and installation channels

Vertical and horizontal cable channels made of mcr Silboard boards should ensure the continuity of electricity supply or signal transmission in fire conditions. For the construction of this type of installation, mcr Silboard boards with a thickness of 40 mm and 20 mm are used.

In the side walls of cable channels and installation channels, swelling ventilation grilles with dimensions not exceeding 150x150 mm can also be installed. Single cables with a diameter not exceeding 20 mm can pass through the side walls of cable channels and installation channels.

Steel structures

The mcr Silboard plate is ideal for fire protection of steel structures. The thickness of the fire protection cladding of steel elements results from the required fire resistance class, the adopted critical temperature and the value of the U/A mass ratio.

In some cases, double-layer fire protection is required. mcr Silboard installed double, applies to steel beams and columns with open and closed, rectangular and circular cross-sections, as well as hot-rolled sections and prefabricated sections, i.e. plate girders with a constant cross-section with solid walls and continuous welds.

Non-load-bearing/partition walls

Non-load-bearing walls with fire protection made of mcr Silboard boards on a supporting structure meet the fire resistance requirements in the class:

- walls at least 40 mm thick, made of two boards at least 20 mm thick - EI 120,

- walls at least 60 mm thick, made of two boards at least 30 mm thick - EI 240.

Since the surface of the fire protection insulation made of mcr Silboard is smooth and clean, walls made of this board are aesthetic and dust-free.

MCR SILBOARD CHARACTERISTICS
