Transforming Theory into Practice at mcr EDU in Kraków

Once again, Mercor experts shared their practical knowledge in the field of fire ventilation as part of the mcr EDU series. The training session took place at the Krowodrza Hotel in Kraków and, as always, attracted architects, designers, fire protection appraisers, and industry experts.

The main topics discussed during the event included fire ventilation for underground garages and vertical evacuation routes. These subjects, presented through numerous case studies, were covered by Elżbieta Borowska and Joanna Marzec from MERCOR’s Fire Ventilation Systems Division.

Wojciech Płaczek, Head of the Fire Automation Team, discussed the requirements for designing the power supply and control systems for fire protection devices and explained backup power solutions for staircase smoke ventilation systems. Meanwhile, Mateusz Chmurczyk, Product Manager from the Construction Protection Division, provided a detailed analysis of selected cases related to service penetrations and fire-resistant enclosures.

Angelika Duszyńska, Project Support Manager, presented the application, legal requirements, and basic rules for selecting and installing fire dampers. She also demonstrated MERCOR’s proprietary fire damper configurator, a valuable tool for creating sanitary installation designs.

The event also featured a special guest, Mariusz Karolczyk, a fire protection expert and Vice President of SiTP Śląsk. He shared his insights on fire ventilation in technical expertise reports.

The mcr EDU series consistently attracts experts and enthusiasts from the fire protection industry, offering opportunities to exchange experiences, establish new business connections, and gain access to highly specialized knowledge directly from practitioners. This year, mcr EDU events were held in Warsaw, Gdańsk, and Kraków. In 2025, we’ll visit more cities – stay tuned for details!
